How To's for Photos

Can I take continuous photos without having to edit each photo?

Yes you can. In capture mode (camera), there is an option in the bottom right to review & edit a photo after captured. Swipe Review & Edit left to turn off (turns grey). In off mode, you will be able to take continuou photos without any interruptions.

How do I update the address/project name that is displayed before I take a photo?

In the top toolbar, tap on the address/project name and you will have the option to choose between nearby projects or type in a new project name/address. When finished, tap Save in the bottom right.

After I set the project name for my first photo, will all the next photos taken capture the same project name?

Yes they will. To change the project name at any time, tap on the project name in capture mode or in edit mode.

 

How do I change the project name after I have taken a photo?

When viewing the photo in ‘Edit Mode’, tap on the arrow underneath the project name to view key information for that photo. From here, you can toggle between nearby projects and select the correct one.

The photo’s address is not correct, how do I edit it?

To edit the address populated for your photo tap on the project name above the photo to open the key information. Then tap into the address field and type the correct address for your project.

How do I annotate a photo?

Tap anywhere on the photo and a text field will open for you to type into. Hold down on the annotation to move it around the photo and double tap on the annotation to edit, copy or delete it.

TIP: We are currently working on adding drawing capabilities to the ‘Mark Up’ feature in the bottom toolbar.

How do I add comments to my photo?

Tap on Comment at the bottom and type in the necessary information for that photo. Remember: All information, including comments, associated with your photos is searchable.

How do I tag my photo?

Tap on the Tag icon at the bottom. Choose the category you would like to select from and tap on the appropriate tag values for the photo.

If you have required tags setup, the tag menu will appear after you capture a photo, and you will select tag values from the required tag categories (designated by an asterisque).

Can I remove a single tag value from a photo?

Yes you can. When viewing a photo that you have taken, tap on Tag at the bottom and then tap on the red X to the right of the unnecessary tag(s).

For mobile users with upload/download permissions, they will only be able to edit photos that they have captured.

I need to capture many photos that all have the same tags? Is there a way to apply these tags only once?

Yes! There is an option within the tags pop-over to remember your selections.

For required tags: Snap the first photo and the tag menu will appear. Select the appropriate values from the required category(s). Then, swipe Remember Tag Selections to save those values for the next photos to be captured.

From the Edit Screen: To  add/remove tag selections, tap Tag and swipe Update Remembered Tags to save any changes for the next photos to be captured.

How do I apply tags to multiple photos that have already been captured?

To apply tags to multiple photos:

  1. Open the gallery, tap on the Select icon in the top right.
  2. Choose the photos you would like to edit and then tap Tag at the bottom.
  3. Select the appropriate tags and then tap Done when you are finished.
  4. If you have required tags setup, you must select values from those categories to apply to the photos.

How do I delete photos from the gallery?

On iPhones and iPads: Swipe left on the photo or, when viewing the Gallery, tap on the checkmark in the top right. Select the photos you would like to remove and then tap on the trash icon at the top.

On Android devices: Long hold on the photo you would like to delete in the Gallery. Then, choose to delete multiple by tapping on the rest of the photos you would like to delete.

Tip: Make sure your photos have synced to your storage provider and the Web Portal before deleting them from your mobile device.

How do I import photos from my device’s camera roll?

From the gallery, tap on More in the bottom left and select ‘Import Photos’ from the list of options.

How do I import photos from a digital camera into FotoIN?

There are three possible options:

  1. You can download the FotoIN app to any camera with Android operating system. 
  2. Get the photos onto your mobile device and import them using the mobile application.
  3. You can also get the FotoIN Studio license and bulk import, manage, re-organize, tag and update photos.

Can I email out multiple photos at a time?

Iphones and iPads: When viewing the gallery tap on the checkmark icon at the top. Select the photos you would like to share and then tap on the mail icon in the top right. Type in the email addresses of the desired recipients and tap Send when you are ready to share.

Android: Long hold on the first photo you would like to send. Once the photo is highlighted, tap on the rest of the desired photos and tap on the mail icon to send.

Tip: Make sure you have an email account setup on your mobile device before sharing photos.

How do I filter through the photos on my mobile device?

From the Gallery:

  • Tap on Filter at the bottom
  • Select the filter values you would like to search by and tap Save
  • To return back to viewing all photos, tap Filter again
  • Tap Clear All, this will remove the applied filters.

Can I search by tag values for specific photos?

Yes you can. All the information associated with your photo (address, tags, annotations, comments, projects, etc.) is searchable.

  • Tap on the magnifying glass in the gallery
  • Type in the keywords or phrases and hit Enter
  • This will display the photos that contain the information you searched by.



Can I email a PDF of one photo to someone?

Yes you can. When viewing the specific photo, tap on the menu in the top right. From the list of options, select Preview PDF. Type in the recipient(s) email address(s) and then tap Send in the top right.

Tip: Make sure you have an email account setup on your mobile device before sharing photos.

 

How do I email a photo from the FotoIN app to multiple people?

Select the photo you would like to email and open the More Menu. Tap Email Photo and enter in as many recipients as you would like.

Can I save a copy of each FotoIN photo I take to my mobile device's camera roll?

On iOS it is possible to save FotoIN photos to your camera roll. Under Settings on the FotoIN app, swipe up to view ‘Backup Photos’. Here, you can choose whether or not you would like to save a copy of each photo captured to your device's camera roll.

Can I view my photos by swiping left and right?

Yes you can! When viewing a recent photo (or photo from within a filter), swipe left to view the previous or swipe right to view the next photo. Make sure you’re doing a strong swipe across the screen.

Once the photos are synced to my storage repository and the web portal, can I delete them from my mobile device?

Once you sync all of your photos from the mobile app, you can then delete them on your mobile device.

For iPhones and iPads: Swipe left on a single photo within the gallery to delete it. Or tap the Select option to delete many at once.

For Android: Long hold on the photo to select it and then tap on the rest of the photos to delete many.

I am experiencing some issues, how do I contact support?

From the gallery screen, open the action menu and tap Send Feedback from the list of options. In the email, please type a description of the issues you are experiencing and tap Send in the top right when you are finished.

How To's for Reports

I want to be able to open FotoIN to my list of reports…can I do that?

Yes you can. Under settings in the mobile app, navigate to the section called ‘Report Settings’. Here you can choose whether or not you want the FotoIN app to open up to your list of reports.

I don't want unanswered questions to show up on the final report. Is that possible?

Yes it is! Under Settings on the mobile app, go to Report Settings. Here, you can choose whether or not to display unanswered questions within your reports.

Can I multi-select photos to add to a report instead of selecting one at a time?

Yes, you can select multiple photos at a time to add to a report.

On iPhone or iPad: Select many from the 10-photo preview or select many from the Gallery.

On Android devices: Long hold on the first photo you'd like to add and the option to select more will appear. Make sure that you’ve selected Images from the left side menu of sources of photos.

Tip: If the photos were captured on your device, remember to make sure they are downloaded before adding them to the report.

Can I access and edit existing reports from the app?

Once you ‘Finish & Upload’ a report from the FotoIN mobile app, you can only access that report from your storage provider and the web portal, it will no longer be accessible on the mobile device.

However, you can export uploaded reports to Word documents from the web portal under the Reports tab and then edit the the content.

We are working on adding more functionality to the FotoIN reports during the first half of 2016.
